Ryan Forrester grew up in an aviation family and is a commercially instrument rated pilot with turbine ratings up to and including 1900D aircraft.
After starting his aviation career in sales and marketing with Bell Helicopters in Fort Worth, Texas, Ryan moved to London where he obtained valuable banking experience at JP Morgan. Upon his return to South Africa, he worked at Imperial Bank for a number of years as part of the company’s aviation finance team. He then saw the opportunity to co-found one of the first aviation finance brokerages in South Africa. After successfully running the finance brokerage for five years, he sold his shares in the company.
In 2005, Ryan spread his wings to start his own business, and AFC was born. Ryan’s personal and professional experience in aircraft finance, maintenance, leasing, insurance and operation has proven to be the cornerstone of AFC’s success. He attributes AFC’s continuing growth to its appetite for innovation and creating new solutions to address customer’s needs, as well as its thorough due diligence processes and strong industry relationships.
Creative, proactive and people-orientated, Ryan is passionate about the aviation finance industry. He cites good people and excellent relationships as the most important factors in his business success and sees room for further expansion at AFC as it continues to develop specialist aviation and avionics solutions not offered by traditional financial service providers.
